ABOUT THE SHOW
We are looking to artists for interpretations either as precise depiction of space, and the relationship between art and architecture, or the shift of attention to a vague notion of psychological and intimate investigation of the inhabitants. Perhaps, a blend of romanticism with realism that reveals how culture enlightens the splendor of a city.
Open to all artists working in any traditional or contemporary media.
ABOUT THE JUROR
Brian J. Karem: is an award-winning, highly acclaimed journalist and best-selling author. He is a political analyst for CNN and White House correspondent for Playboy Magazine. He is the recipient of the “News Organization of The Year” award by the Maryland-Delaware-District of Columbia Press Association.
Karem is a former producer and television correspondent for America’s Most Wanted. He has traveled the world, covering wars, major international events on terrorism, natural disasters and more for the last 35 years.
All media are eligible (see category section below). All artwork must be matted, framed, or otherwise made exhibition-ready. All framed artworks must be fitted with ¾” d-rings or larger or use screw eyes with a 1/4” diameter opening or larger. If using a metal frame, omni or screw hangers must be fitted to the frame. All d-rings, screw eyes, and omni or screw hangers should be installed at ¼ or less of the total height down from the top of the artwork to ensure that the artwork hangs flush to the wall. Cleats, sawtooth hangers, steel plates and wire, or any other hanging device requiring a nail in the wall are not acceptable hanging mechanisms.
Maximum size for 2D work is 48" by 36" framed.
Maximum depth for framed/hanging 3D art -4" from the canvas/surface.
Maximum weight for hanging pieces- 20 lbs.
Maximum Sculpture/Assemblage Art dimensions are 24" by 18" by 18", and no more than 40 pounds.
Larger pieces may be considered on a case by case basis.

Any accepted artwork will not be exhibited if not exhibition-ready.
Submissions will be considered through a blind jury process and juried on mastery of craft and relevance to the exhibition theme.
The non-refundable fee for artist is as followed: $35 for up to 3 art works and $5 for each additional work submitted. There is no maximum limit for number of works per artist.
Submission fees are collected through PayPal with any major credit or debit card at the end of the submission process.

Deadlines and Important Dates:
Deadline to submit artworks. -Jan 26th,2019.
Notification of accepted and non-accepted work- Jan 31st, 2019.
In-person drop-off accepted work to Open space Galley-Feb 9 & 10, 2019 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Shipped Work: If you are shipping your work to the gallery, it must be received no later than Feb. 9th , 2019.
Opening reception FRIDAY, Feb 15, 2019. 7:00 -9:00 pm
Return shipment of work:
Artist must insure shipped artworks and include a pre-paid return shipping label and adequate packaging material for the return of unsold artwork. Open Space Gallery is not responsible for the cost or insuring of shipped artwork to and from the gallery. For those shipping art work, with glass must have extra packaging material to protect their work. The Gallery will not be will not be not responsible for damages due to shipping and handling.
Pickup deadline: Saturday 03/02/2019.
Pick up of unsold work from Studio & Gallery between 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. There is a $5 per artwork, per day, storage charge for work not picked up after 02/23/2019. Unsold artworks with pre-paid return shipping label which needs to be shipped back will be packaged and sent the week of 03/04/2019. Art work without return labels will not be exhibited and there is a storage fee of $5. per day per artwork.
All artwork on exhibition must remain on the gallery site throughout the entire exhibition. Early removal of artwork is prohibited and is subject to 30% commission of the value of the art work.
SALESThe gallery will receive a 30% commission on all artwork sold. The gallery will pay the artist for the sold artwork within 30 days of the close of the exhibition. All artwork must be for sale and priced at a fair market value, and prices reported in the application should take into consideration the commission split.
The following materials and information will be needed to complete your submission when the call for entry opens.
The following media are eligible. Please specify the category most closely associated with most of the works in your application.
Drawing (including pastel, colored pencil, charcoal, ink)
Mixed media (2D and 3D)
Painting (including acrylic, oil, watercolor, etc.)
Printmaking (excluding hand-printed photography)
Each artist may submit as many works as the wish (see above for submission fees)
Each work must provide:
Title, Material, Price, Dimensions and Year of Completion for each piece entered. The information; titles, mediums, and prices provided in the application will remain final.
Images: Artists must submit high resolution images. Images must be a .jpg file, at least 1000 pixels wide and 300 dpi (or 4 inches wide at 300 dpi.) All submitted files must be at least 90 kb but no more than 8 mb in size.
Description of Work: Artists must include a brief description of their work up to 230 characters. Please discuss specific inspirations pertaining to the exhibition theme and/or unique processes used to create the work.
